This is markezuma. He is my personal super hero. His name is also my preferred handle on the internet. Sometimes he serves as my alter ego. His super powers are to turn invisible and desolid. He is also an incredible diplomat. When he is not playing video games with me, he tries to bring peace to the world. He’s the sort of hero that will go into war zones and convince people to stop shooting. Since his powers make him immune to conventional weapons, soldiers that won’t stop attacking find his presence demoralizing. When things are about to hit him the areas they would strike phase out and those things pass right through him. This is especially true for the target on his chest. It draws fire to his least vulnerable area. He wears a helmet to deflect headshots since things passing through his advanced brain can derail this thoughts. He is courageous and intelligent. He helps the downtrodden and cheats the oppressors of their victims. He is a paragon of virtue. Unfortunately he is also completely imaginary, so can only give you moral support.

The name markezuma comes from playing video games. Many years ago I played Sid Meyer’s civilization and liked to pick the Aztecs because their cities looked cool. At the beginning of the game it asks you to name your leader, and for the Aztecs it suggests Montezuma. I switched the beginning of the word to mark and my internet handle was born. I started using it on the web and found that no one other than myself ever tries to use it. If you put “markezuma” into a search engine you will find things I’ve done online all the way back to Myspace and Geocities accounts. I am markezuma in cyberspace and I am everywhere.

As an alternative to my real personality which likes to sit on the computer and my phone drawing and writing, markezuma is very outgoing. He travels the web looking for people to inspire to peace, and justice, and virtue. Unlike me he is never at a loss for words and doesn’t lose his temper. The world does make him sad sometimes, but that happens to all of us. Again he is only an illusion, but he will at least be your imaginary friend. He always comes home, so don’t expect him to stay. If markezuma visits you treat him well, and he will lift your spirits.

  • Royal Eye

Today’s art is a white eye with blood red streaks and dots. It is surrounded by a purple sphere and has a golden sphere down and to the right which is under the eye but over the purple. The three spheres are inside a golden hexagon which also opens down and to the right. All…

  • Platemail

As a teenager I played a lot of Dungeons and Dragons. Paladins in platemail were my favorite. Today’s art is an attempt to recreate the wonder and magic in those suits of armor. I have actually seen medieval armor since then but the fantasy images remain in my head. The platemail in this image is…

  • Cornucopia 24

Today’s art is a Cornucopia in light brown with black creases made with pen and pencil of InkScape. The mouth has in descending order a pumpkin, an apple, and ear of corn, and a bunch of grapes. The background is a blue and gold gradient with confetti streaks in the opposite color from the base…

  • Bunny or No?

A friend asked me to draw a bunny. It turned out looking more like a dog to me. I received feedback that it also looks like a butt to some viewers. That was not the intention this time, but I do regularly hide images into my art in ways that are sometimes subtle and sometimes…

  • Moon and Stars

Simple and fun drawing and bucket fills on GIMP2. The principal image is a large outline of crescent moon with a smaller star outline in the arms of the crescent on a black background. The interior of the crescent is a regular series of smaller versions of the crescent, and the interior of the star…

  • Green Leaf on Gold

The foreground is a stylized green leaf made in InkScape with pen and nodes. It has a small stem on the bottom and three large points at the top. Inside there are alternating frames that become simple and simpler. The frames have bands of darker green half ovals. I created a background on GIMP2 of…

  • Cracked Dove

SketchPad Finger Painting… Dark green background, light blue sky overlay, brown and green tree with large strokes. The dove came last with a white body, yellow beak and legs, and a purple eye. The lines are as small as they get. No zooming or bucket fills to keep the dove regular. Just fingers on a…

  • Royal Robot

Pen, nodes, and ovals in InkScape with yellow, purple and white to form a jagged body and eyes. Transferred to a confetti background on GIMP2 with an artist mark.

  • My Leg Hurts

This is a picture of a foot that has been torn of the leg. It’s got a stylized (not anatomically correct) bone coming from the top. The foot and the bone were made as single element pen drags on InkScape. As I have been doing I transferred it to a confetti background on GIMP2. The…

  • Gift in Plaid

I’m still feeling Christmas-y today. Have a present in a red box with plaid frames. The background stars are for fun and to fill space. The artist mark is plaid a pencil with a plaid bucket fill. GIMP2
