This is markezuma. He is my personal super hero. His name is also my preferred handle on the internet. Sometimes he serves as my alter ego. His super powers are to turn invisible and desolid. He is also an incredible diplomat. When he is not playing video games with me, he tries to bring peace to the world. He’s the sort of hero that will go into war zones and convince people to stop shooting. Since his powers make him immune to conventional weapons, soldiers that won’t stop attacking find his presence demoralizing. When things are about to hit him the areas they would strike phase out and those things pass right through him. This is especially true for the target on his chest. It draws fire to his least vulnerable area. He wears a helmet to deflect headshots since things passing through his advanced brain can derail this thoughts. He is courageous and intelligent. He helps the downtrodden and cheats the oppressors of their victims. He is a paragon of virtue. Unfortunately he is also completely imaginary, so can only give you moral support.

The name markezuma comes from playing video games. Many years ago I played Sid Meyer’s civilization and liked to pick the Aztecs because their cities looked cool. At the beginning of the game it asks you to name your leader, and for the Aztecs it suggests Montezuma. I switched the beginning of the word to mark and my internet handle was born. I started using it on the web and found that no one other than myself ever tries to use it. If you put “markezuma” into a search engine you will find things I’ve done online all the way back to Myspace and Geocities accounts. I am markezuma in cyberspace and I am everywhere.

As an alternative to my real personality which likes to sit on the computer and my phone drawing and writing, markezuma is very outgoing. He travels the web looking for people to inspire to peace, and justice, and virtue. Unlike me he is never at a loss for words and doesn’t lose his temper. The world does make him sad sometimes, but that happens to all of us. Again he is only an illusion, but he will at least be your imaginary friend. He always comes home, so don’t expect him to stay. If markezuma visits you treat him well, and he will lift your spirits.

  • Deer God

Today I was just playing around with angles and transparents. I hope some of the supernatural I was feeling comes through this.

  • Paper Bag in Plaid

I was fiddling on SketchPad and I made the outline of a paper bag that kind of looked like a head with hair. I redrew him on GIMP2 still in black and white. But he needed some color so I did a few bucket fills.

  • Nose Alien and Nosey Nerd

Nose Alien: I looked up how to draw a nose, read the directions, then closed the webpage and opened my graphic program. I started drawing a nose but the nostrils looked like eyes to me and the whole thing just looked like a strange head. So I gave it hair and shoulders. I finished with…

  • Face

Today we have a spikey boyish face. The eyes are blue and ovular and the lips are pink and curved. The teeth are bad in a way similar to me own. (composite, artist mark)

  • Cat’s Eye

My cat Magic was staring at me and I stared back.

  • Duck

Just a duck. (InkScape, transparent background)

  • Birthday Hat 25

We got a lot of birthdays this week and next. Here’s a birthday hat for you to celebrate with us. (composite)

  • Weird Magic Alpha

I tried to trace the outline of my cat on my phone. The final shape looked more like a continent than a cat to me. I cycled it through several of my graphic programs adding features and touches here and there (land, sea cities, and rivers). I’m not sure it’s any good but it is…

  • Art Submission

I submitted today’s art to Arts for All Wisconsin’s 2025 Creative Power Call for Art. I have waved the rights on it so I do not know if I can display it here. I’ll let you know if I win.
