This is markezuma. He is my personal super hero. His name is also my preferred handle on the internet. Sometimes he serves as my alter ego. His super powers are to turn invisible and desolid. He is also an incredible diplomat. When he is not playing video games with me, he tries to bring peace to the world. He’s the sort of hero that will go into war zones and convince people to stop shooting. Since his powers make him immune to conventional weapons, soldiers that won’t stop attacking find his presence demoralizing. When things are about to hit him the areas they would strike phase out and those things pass right through him. This is especially true for the target on his chest. It draws fire to his least vulnerable area. He wears a helmet to deflect headshots since things passing through his advanced brain can derail this thoughts. He is courageous and intelligent. He helps the downtrodden and cheats the oppressors of their victims. He is a paragon of virtue. Unfortunately he is also completely imaginary, so can only give you moral support.
The name markezuma comes from playing video games. Many years ago I played Sid Meyer’s civilization and liked to pick the Aztecs because their cities looked cool. At the beginning of the game it asks you to name your leader, and for the Aztecs it suggests Montezuma. I switched the beginning of the word to mark and my internet handle was born. I started using it on the web and found that no one other than myself ever tries to use it. If you put “markezuma” into a search engine you will find things I’ve done online all the way back to Myspace and Geocities accounts. I am markezuma in cyberspace and I am everywhere.
As an alternative to my real personality which likes to sit on the computer and my phone drawing and writing, markezuma is very outgoing. He travels the web looking for people to inspire to peace, and justice, and virtue. Unlike me he is never at a loss for words and doesn’t lose his temper. The world does make him sad sometimes, but that happens to all of us. Again he is only an illusion, but he will at least be your imaginary friend. He always comes home, so don’t expect him to stay. If markezuma visits you treat him well, and he will lift your spirits.

Upraised Hand June 20
Today I decided to go with something a little simpler. I have a thing about hands and I think this one turned out decently. It’s a lot fatter than mine but I think that’s okay. It has been submitted to Shutterstock and I will update this page when and if it goes on sale.

Dragon July 19
Today’s dragon is screenshots of another 3D model. Built in Blender. Colored in 3D Pain. All in a days work.

Planet 7 18 24
Today you are seeing screenshots of a 3D planet file. The basic shape comes from the prerenders in an open source program called Blender. I moved it to 3D Paint to add the color and take the shots. These images are deceptively simple and don’t tell even a hundredth of the story of the 3D…

Laying in the Grass
This one is smaller than most of the digital art I do at 4’x4″. It started out as a finger painting but needed some colors, so I moved it to my computer and embellished it. It’s parts of two face laying in the grass. I had originally intended for the upper left to be a…

Face July 15
Today I’m fiddling with 3D Paint from Microsoft. I don’t have a lot of skill with 3D images, need a lot of practice, and don’t have a good way to share them at any rate. If I ever figure out how to get the darn camera to move in the program, I might save some…

Chalice July 14
Today’s art is a relatively simple chalice. It took three canvases in GIMP2 and one in InkScape to create the effect I wanted. The elliptical and rectangular portions are possible with some work in the former, but the latter was needed to create precision gemstones. The purple backdrop is intended to highlight the gold and…

Breakfast Coffee in Color July 13
This is another on that started as a finger painting on my phone. I transferred it to GIMP2 and added more elements to the image to make the 9:16 phone art into 4″x4″ computer art. The colors are mostly just bucket fills and you can see the little white and black stokes along the edges…

Face July 12
This is a simple face. It is colorful and silly and a little angry. It was made with InkScape and GIMP2. I have submitted it to Shutterstock, it has been approved and is for sale or should be shortly. Buy Now

Digitally Displaced
I spent twelve hours in Facebook Jail. I have voluntarily walked away from Twitter. I hardly ever use Discord for anything I can’t do by text. So here I am with markezuma and hopefully I can live in this little corner of the Internet comfortably for a while. You can find us here. The art…
